Dumpster Sizes and Dimensions, Doulos Dumpster Rentals
Not sure what size dumpster your project needs? Doulos Dumpster Rentals runs the 15, 20 and 25 yard container, every one with 1 ton (2,000 lbs) of disposal and your choice of a 3-day or 7-day rental, and the right one comes down to a single question.
Pick by what you are throwing away, not by how much of it there is. Bulky debris runs out of room first, and a bigger container earns its keep. Dense debris runs out of weight first, and a bigger container does not help at all.

Which Dumpster Size Do You Need?
Doulos Dumpster Rentals runs the 15, 20 and 25 yard dumpster rental container, and the difference between them is room, not weight. Every size includes 1 ton (2,000 lbs) with either a 3-day or 7-day rental.
15 Yard Dumpster

- Size
- 14' long, 7.5' wide, 4' high
- Included
- 1 ton (2,000 lbs), 3 days
- Suits
- Garage cleanouts, small baths, yard debris
One room, or a season of yard work. The lowest wall of the three, so it loads by hand.
20 Yard Dumpster

- Size
- 16' long, 7.5' wide, 5' high
- Included
- 1 ton (2,000 lbs), 3 days
- Suits
- Kitchen remodels, whole rooms, roof tear offs
The one most people book. A kitchen or a whole room without a second trip.
25 Yard Dumpster

- Size
- 18' long, 7.5' wide, 5.5' high
- Included
- 1 ton (2,000 lbs), 3 days
- Suits
- Whole homes, demolition, storm cleanup
The largest we run. A whole house in one drop, if the debris is bulky rather than dense.

Dumpster Dimensions Side by Side
Doulos Dumpster Rentals sizes a dumpster rental against two things, the driveway it has to sit on and the debris it has to hold, and this table answers both. Width is the same on every container, so if one fits your drive, all three do.
Read the length against your driveway and the height against your back. Everything else on the table is identical across the range.

What fits
What Fits in Each Dumpster Size
Each Doulos Dumpster Rentals container suits a different dumpster rental job, and the fit is about room. Here is what each one actually holds, in the words a customer would use.
15 Yard Dumpster
The 15 yard handles a one room job. A garage cleanout, a small bathroom remodel, or the brush and limbs from a yard that got away from you. It is the lowest container we run, which means nobody needs a ramp to load it. Read the 15 yard dumpster page for the jobs it suits and the one where it runs short.
20 Yard Dumpster
The 20 yard is the one most people book, and for a reason: a kitchen remodel, a whole room cleanout or a roof each fill it without overflowing it. It fits a two car driveway and still loads over the side by hand. The 20 yard dumpster page has the full list.
25 Yard Dumpster
The 25 yard is for the whole house at once, a commercial tear out, or the mess a storm leaves. It buys room, not weight, so it is the right call for bulky debris and the wrong one for a pile of concrete. The 25 yard dumpster page says where that line is.
Weight
Why Weight Runs Out Before Space Does
Doulos Dumpster Rentals sizes every dumpster rental by one rule: dense debris hits the 1 ton (2,000 lbs) allowance long before it fills the box, and that is the single fact that decides most dumpster rental sizing.
Here is the mechanism. A dumpster is billed by the container and includes a fixed weight of disposal, 1 ton (2,000 lbs) on every size we run. The load is weighed on a certified scale when it is tipped, and anything past the allowance is $100 per ton, which is $0.05 per lb. Room is free up to the rail. Weight is not free past the allowance.
So a load of furniture, boxes and brush fills a 25 yard and weighs a fraction of the allowance. The same 25 yard, half full of broken concrete, is over the allowance before the truck comes back. The bigger container did nothing for the concrete except cost more.
Roofing is the case people get wrong most. Shingles are heavy for the room they take. A single layer on an average roof sits near 1 ton (2,000 lbs). Two layers do not. The answer is not a bigger box. It is telling us the squares and the layers before you book, so the container and the allowance are both settled first.
Materials
What Goes In and What Stays Out
Doulos Dumpster Rentals accepts household, renovation, roofing and demolition debris in every dumpster rental size, and refuses the same short list in all of them.
The refusals are not preferences. Each one is either a hauling law or a disposal facility rule, and a prohibited item found in a load carries a $500 charge. Tires are the one exception on the accepted side, in for $15 per tire if they go in last.
Goes Straight In
- Household furniture, boxes and appliances
- Drywall, lumber, trim and cabinets
- Flooring, carpet, padding and tile
- Roofing shingles and underlayment
- Yard waste, brush and limbs
- Minimal concrete, brick and masonry. Dense debris reaches the weight allowance long before it fills the box. Please call to discuss load requirements.
- Tires, for $15 per tire, loaded last. Have 20 or more tires? Please call to arrange pricing.
Never Accepted
- Oil, fuel and other hazardous liquids
- Freon and refrigerant
- Medical waste
- Car batteries
- Rechargeable lithium ion packs
- Anything loaded above the top rail
The rental terms and prohibited materials carry the full list, and the same list applies at every address across our service area.
Rental period
How Long You Get the Dumpster
Choose a 3-day or 7-day dumpster rental. The clock starts the day the container lands, and both rental periods include 1 ton (2,000 lbs).
Past the term the rate is $25 per day, printed here rather than discovered later. Compare 3-day and 7-day prices using the rental-period buttons. Choose the same size and rental period when booking. A swap, a full container out and an empty one in, is billed as a new rental of the same size.
Bigger containers
Do You Rent 30 or 40 Yard Dumpsters?
Doulos Dumpster Rentals runs no dumpster rental container larger than the 25 yard, and we would rather say that plainly than send a 25 to a job that needed a 40.
In practice the gap matters less than it sounds. A job bigger than a 25 by room is a whole house plus outbuildings or a commercial gut, and a swap brings a second container as a new rental of the same size. A job bigger than a 25 by weight is not solved by any box, because every size carries the same 1 ton (2,000 lbs). On that job the question is tons, and we answer it at (423) 4-DOULOS before the truck rolls.
Say what you are clearing out and we will name the container. It takes a minute on the phone, costs nothing, and it is how the size ends up right the first time. Same day and next day delivery is possible when a container and a truck are both free.
Questions
Dumpster Size FAQs
Doulos Dumpster Rentals hears the same dumpster rental sizing questions every week. Here they are, answered with the real numbers.
Are the 15, 20 and 25 yard the same width?
Yes. Every Doulos Dumpster Rentals container is 7.5' wide. Length and height are what change between the 15, the 20 and the 25. If one fits your driveway, they all do.
Can I mix different kinds of debris in one dumpster?
Yes. Mixed loads are normal and cost nothing extra. The only things that cannot go in are on the refused list above, and tires carry a per tire fee. What matters is total weight, not what the weight is made of.
What if I fill the dumpster before the job is done?
Call before the truck is loaded and it is a swap: the full container out, an empty one in, billed as a new rental of the same size. Plan the size by room and the swap rarely happens.
Can I pile debris above the rim?
No. A load above the rail cannot be tarped, and a container has to be tarped before it moves. Anything proud of the rail comes off before the truck leaves. Load level and it goes as one trip.
Is a bigger dumpster always safer?
Not always. A bigger container gives more room, never more weight. On bulky debris the extra room is worth it. On dense debris such as shingles, tile or concrete, the 1 ton (2,000 lbs) allowance decides and the box size does not. Read the weight section above before you size up.
Still unsure? Call (423) 4-DOULOS or send the details and we will name the size.
